FoodLabFat, instrument to perform Quality Control of edible oils and fats, has been used during a study made by the University of Hamburg which will be presented at the 7th International EuroFedLipid Congress (Graz 18th - 21st October 2009)
At the 7th EuroFedLipid Congress: "Lipids, Fats and Oils: From Knowledge to Application" , organized by the European Federation for the Science and Technology of Lipids (Graz from 18th to 21st October), the University of Hamburg will expose a study about the stability of vegetable oil.
In more detail, the study, named "Stability of high oleic vegetable oils towards light exposure" and conducted by Katharina D. Placke, Carola Biesemann, Jan Fritsche of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, investigates the influence of light on the oxidative stability of high oleic vegetable oils (sunflower and rapeseed oil) compared to their conventional counterparts. During the study, peroxide and anisidine values have been determined using CDR FoodLabFat.
This is not the first time members of Hamburg University used CDR FoodLabFat instrument to carry out important studies; in fact during the 6th EuroFedLipid international congress another research was presented where CDR instrument was employed to investigate "The oxidative stability of deep-frying oils".
Also the University of Athens has used CDR Oxitester, to execute an important work in collaboration with Asteriadis S.A. and Minerva S.A. enterprises. The study examined the Oxitester photometric method for the determination of olive Oil Stability Index (OSI) and polyphenol content, and compared it with the Rancimat official testing method. Oxitester method has been validated as a very good alternative to Rancimat and the study "A novel photometric method for evaluation of oxidative stability of virgin olive oils" was published in the Journal of AOAC International [Vol. 91, No 4, 2008].
The NOACK Group of Companies is a company with its headquarters in Vienna that distributes products into the feed and agro-food industries. It operates in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

The Congress
The industrial, medical and biological relevance of lipids and oils is firmly established and recent advances in biotechnology, biochemistry as well as industrial and biomedical applications have been made. The International EuroFedLipid Congress is a significant event in the oils and fats area which deals with the various academic and industrial aspects of lipidology. It aims to- strengthen cooperation and exchange between scientists, technologists and industry
- promote networking between industry and academia
- encourage an increase in scientific and technological knowledge in the field of lipids, fats and oils and to encourage its diffusion.
NOACK Group
At the congress will be present also the Noack Group that has recently entered into an agreement with CDR for the distribution of the analysis systems in the territory of Central/East Europe. The distribution agreement represents a crucial part of CDR strategy to be a leading provider of foodstuff analysis system and the company is looking forward to an exciting future with this new relationship. The NOACK Group of Companies is a company with its headquarters in Vienna that distributes products into the feed and agro-food industries.
