FoodLab
Foodlab offers a fast and practical solution to perform accurate chemical tests on milk, cheese, diary products, food fats, vegetable puree and eggs.
FoodLab has been developed and designed by CDR to allow users to assess the quality of food like MILK, EGGS, TOMATOES, VEGETABLE PUREE, CHEESE and FATS.
The system comprises an analyzer that employs a sophisticated spectrophotometric technology, a series of special pre-vialed reagents in single cuvettes, which have been specifically selected by CDR's research laboratories, and the actual pipettes required to carry out the tests.
The technological innovation and analytical principles implemented in FoodLab have enabled CDR to develop a whole range of systems suitable to carry out chemical tests on specific types of food:
- Oxitester and miniFood for chemical tests on olive oil
- FoodLabFat for chemical tests on fats and oils
- miniFoodLab for the determination of the concentration of urea and chlorides in diary products and vegetable mashes
Reliability, accuracy and reproducibility
The analyzer owes its high sensitivity to the sophisticated spectrophotometric technology employed and to the fact that it processes signals digitally. Measurement accuracy derives from the possibility of aligning the system to reference standards and samples with a known titration.
Results are correlated with international FIL/IDF reference methods.
Incubation and measuring cells, thermostated at 37°C guarantee an accurate standardization and maximum reproducibility of test results.
The analyzer is supplied pre-calibrated. Self calibration and the control of measuring cells are carried out when the device is switched on, while calibration curves are pre-installed. Custom calibrations can be performed easily and quickly for a maximum of three standard samples with known titration.
User-friendliness
FoodLab does not require specific calibration, cleaning and maintenance operations and can therefore be easily used to assess quality in real time at the time raw materials are purchased, stored and during single production processes. If employed to monitor production processes, the system can also be used to run chemical tests in batch mode. The availability of pre-programmed tests, which can be easily selected from the displayed menus, means that even less skilled operators can use the system. Results are always automatically printed.
Connectivity
The two serial ports on the rear enable the analyzer to be connected to a computer. FoodLab can be connected to LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) systems by means of a serial line (RS2323) and the XML (Extensible Markup Language) protocol.
Chemical tests
FoodLab performs chemical tests using innovative methods and protects the health of operators using low toxicity reagents that are easily disposable and supplied in ready to use pre-vialed cuvettes.
The analytical methods employed are simple, fast and designed to minimize losses: it is in fact possible to use microscopic samples (5-100 µl) either as is or after a limited treatment.
Comparative tests
The analytical method and the system have been assessed by Sinal certified laboratories like the Milk Standard Laboratory of the Italian Association of Milk Producers. The comparative tests for acidity tests, amount of peroxides, soaps in fats, and oils and chlorides in milk have been performed by Neotron's laboratories.
FoodLab has been developed, designed and manufactured by CDR s.r.l.
